Welcome to ERLS.net

Eastern Recreation & Leisure Services Inc. (ERLS) is proud to welcome you to our website. Your feedback and comments are always welcome. ERLS works in an environment of continuous improvement and our valued associates are a major contributor to our future development and direction.

The success of ERLS has been reflected through our high number of partnering agencies and associates. Since the inception of ERLS we are proud to have worked with over three hundred providers and associates operating in our region. Much of this work has been recognised broadly and promoted as best practice within individual sports and recreation organisations.

Over the past few years, there has been an increase in the understanding of the role that sport and recreation can play in improving individual lifestyles, in particular those who experience a disability. We have seen great examples of how our participation in community sport and recreation can improve our health, increase our self esteem, strengthen leadership skills, enhance community spirits and build bridges across communal division. We have seen how it can channel negative energy into learning and self motivation.

I am confident that ERLS is doing some amazing work with our sport and recreation communities. Working to promote the awareness of the benefits that active participation can support the future development of inclusive sport and recreation environments.

ERLS will continue to encourage policy planners to think creatively about how we can build the capacity of our sport and recreation providers to ensure that they are accessible and inclusive to all. We will continue to build partnerships within our communities and work collaboratively with the private sector to support new initiatives.

Accessible and inclusive sport and recreation plays a role in all communities, both large and small. Sport can contribute to economic and social development, improving health and personal growth in people of all abilities. The greater the accessibility, the greater the possibilities.

So to make ‘Inclusion, your sport!’ let us work together to plan and develop many more sport and recreation environments, programs and events that celebrate access and inclusion. Through ‘true’ partnerships we can enhance the possibilities for access and inclusion to our sport and recreation sector.

As in sport, respect for one another, teamwork and fair play are consistent with the principles and values here at ERLS.
