Matt Handley F.I.D.A Round 401:44 AM, Monday, 12th May 2008 Division 1 Round four of F.I.D.A. football was a mixed round in division 1 with two games having big margins with the rest of the games being quite competitive. Firstly we had Nth Ballarat Knights 1: 11 11 88 being just to skilled for Broadmeadows Kangaroos 1: 0 0 00. Kanaook 1: 18 15 123 were far to drilled for Port Colts 0 1 01. Bulleen Templestowe with 5 1 31 had less scoring shots against Lara 3 5 23 but showed the importance of straight kicking. The final game in division 1 was a great contest with Mambourin Tigers 11 6 72 getting the points against O & M Jets 7 6 48. Next week in division 1 we see Kananook Tigers 1: looking the likely winners against Broadmeadows Kangaroos who are in a rebuilding phase. Lara and Port Colts is the match of the round and on form you have to go with Port Colts but Lara could surprise and post their first win of the season. Mambourin play Bulleen Templestowe with Bulleen possibly being to fast for Mambourin and the final game looks like a win for Nth Ballarat Knights against a very competitive
Mazenod Panthers 10 9 69 kicked away from Parkside 6 2 38. In what was a very competitive game. Kananook 2: 16 13 109 played all over an enthusiastic Ringwood Spiders 3 0 18. Moonee Valley Magpies 10 6 66 managed to follow all their team rules against Maribyrnong Bulldogs 1 2 8. Nth Ballarat Knights 2: 10 7 77 played a mirror image of the division 1 clash against Broadmeadows Kangaroos 2: 0 1 01. Next week in division 2 we have Kananook Tigers 2 most likely having a victory against a persistent Broadmeadows 2. Moonee Valley Magpies may surprise against a competitive Parkside. Maribyrnong Bulldogs are travelling to Nth Ballarat Knights 2 and may have bus lag and struggle against what seems to be a very good Ballarat side. Mazenod Panthers will run the Ringwood Spiders off their legs and post another win with Ringwood having to wait another round for a win.

With friday night venues at a premium, we were very lucky to find this venue and we are very thankful to Deakin University for letting us use their facilities. A terrific night of competition christened the new home of the competition, with most of the regulars making it out to Burwood and performing well. Second placed All Stars defeated top of the table Lightning Bolts, while the Blue Comets won the battle of the blue against the Blue Hawks. The basketball saw some high scoring affairs with Chadstone taking it up to top of the table Kookaburras, the Tigers knocked off a gallant Globetrotters in a shoot out and the Demons drew with the Emus becasue of player availability. Thank you to all of those who made it down to Deakin. I know it is a bit of an inconvenience, but hopefully we will be bak to the Nunawading Community Centre for next season.
